1. Definitions

In railway transportation, it is usually necessary to take protective measures against external high or low temperatures, that is, to observe the thermal insulation system (cooling, ventilation, heating) or to take care of or serve goods, which are called perishable goods.

2. Classification

Perishable goods are classified into 13 categories in the Annex "Rules for the Carriage of Perishable Goods" of the International Freight Association, including:

Fresh and canned vegetables and mushrooms;

Fresh and canned fruits and berries;

Meat, meat products and animal fats;

Alcoholic beverages; Sugar jam made of fruits and berries;

Sealed cans of baker's yeast;

Living plants.

3. Transportation conditions

(1) The principle stipulates that when transporting live animals, the veterinary health regulations of the sending, receiving and transit countries must be observed, and the escort of animals must be guaranteed.

(2) In the transportation of railway sections in China, we must also abide by China's "Rules for the Transportation of Railway Fresh Goods".

(3) Special requirements and restrictions

The transportation method (cooling, ventilation, heating), vehicle type (refrigerated, box car), or the use of large tonnage containers must be recorded in the "Special Statement of Shipper" column of the waybill. If there is no such record, it is considered that there is no special requirement. Perishable goods that need care, care, or observe the thermal insulation system can only be transported as a whole vehicle.

Perishable goods and live fish that need heating (except steam and electrical heating) can only be transported under the escort of the consignor or consignee from the departure station to the arrival station.

The railway shall arrange vehicles or containers as required.

When transporting raw livestock products, the consignor shall attach animal and plant quarantine certificates to the waybill;

When transporting fresh fruits, vegetables and plants, a phytosanitary certificate shall be attached.

Perishable goods to Vietnam shall be negotiated with Vietnam Railway in advance.

When transporting the vehicle's live animals, the consignor and consignee's escort must escort them from the departure station to the arrival station, and the veterinary certificate (China's quarantine certificate) must be attached to the waybill.
